Capturing Monika and Andrew’s detailed and relaxed wedding day was one of the highlights of my year. There was a beautiful and supportive energy within every single person that was there to celebrate Monika and Andrew’s chic, editorial themed wedding. It was truly so inspiring to be surrounded by so much affection and admiration. Photographing their wedding’s most precious moments in Dallas was a dream come true - I knew their wedding photos would be STUNNING because Monika and Andrew look like freaking models, and on wedding day they brought the heat!!

When I was talking with Monika and Andrew about their wedding, I knew they were pulling classic and chic inspiration (think Audrey Hepburn, Victoria and David Beckham) while making it modern and approachable (hem - look at the freaking wallpaper at The Henry!). As a knowledgeable and seasoned destination wedding photographer, I know the importance wedding day details can play in the storytelling aspect of wedding photography. Andrew and Monika thought of every wedding detail: from Andrew’s custom cufflinks (which were a gift from Monika) to the signature cocktails at the end of the night and everything in between.

Monika started her wedding day in the BEST possible way: eating pizza and drinking champagne. Have you ever seen such flawless bridesmaid photos?! These might be my favorite.

Going into Monika and Andrew’s wedding, I knew that they were looking for chic and modern editorial styled wedding photos, and I was so excited to work with them!! As a destination wedding photographer, I really enjoy approaching all weddings in an editorial style, but some couples do like their photos to be more documentary styled. But here’s why I love editorial wedding photography: it tells the whole wedding story through the wedding images rather than simply documenting the day and checking off boxes. Traditional wedding photography focuses on capturing posed shots of the couple and their families, while editorial wedding photography takes a more creative and artistic approach. It often involves capturing candid moments and using unique angles or strategic placement to create stunning images.

But, What is editorial wedding photography?

Editorial wedding photography is a style of wedding photography that aims to capture the essence of a couple's wedding day in a way that resembles a magazine or editorial spread. It goes beyond traditional wedding photography by incorporating elements of fashion, lifestyle, and storytelling to create visually stunning and artistic images.

  • Editorial wedding photographers often work closely with couples to conceptualize a unique vision for their wedding day. They may draw inspiration from fashion magazines, editorial shoots, or other artistic references to create a cohesive aesthetic and narrative.

  • Editorial wedding photographers pay meticulous attention to details such as styling, decor, and wardrobe choices. They often work closely with the couple and other vendors to ensure that every element of the wedding is thoughtfully curated and visually appealing.

  • Editorial wedding photographers employ creative composition techniques, unique angles, and artistic framing to capture visually striking images. They may experiment with lighting, textures, and backgrounds to add depth and visual interest to their photographs.

  • Editorial wedding photography often incorporates fashion-inspired posing techniques. The photographer may guide the couple through various poses and interactions that evoke a sense of style, sophistication, and elegance.

  • Editorial wedding photographers aim to tell a visual story of the couple's wedding day. They capture the emotions, interactions, and key moments in a way that unfolds like a narrative, creating a series of images that collectively tell the story of the day.

Monika and Andrew chose to get married in a quiet corner of Dallas Texas, at the East Side Community Church and then celebrate their reception in their favorite way: at a chic and trendy Dallas restaurant right in the heart of the city.

The Henry is a neighborhood restaurant that offers an amazing menu. Monika and Andrew chose to have their wedding reception here because they are self-proclaimed “foodies” (and honestly SAME). This intimate and welcoming venue was the perfect location for their reception. The Henry has a gorgeous atmosphere, fantastic food and their spicy margarita got the Emily Reedstrom Photography stamp of approval ;)

Miscellaneous Expenses: This includes items such as wedding invitations, transportation, wedding favors, cake, hair and makeup, and coordination services. These costs can vary depending on personal preferences and the level of customization desired.

  • April: April is a lovely month for a spring wedding, as it typically brings mild temperatures and blooming flowers. Consider weekends in early to mid-April to take advantage of the pleasant weather and the abundance of spring blooms.

May: May is a classic choice for weddings, known for its lush greenery and comfortably warm weather. The temperatures are typically pleasant, providing a comfortable environment for outdoor ceremonies and receptions. Weekends in early to mid-May are often sought after, allowing couples to enjoy the vibrant colors of spring before the arrival of the hotter summer months.

On average, couples in Dallas can expect to invest between $3,700 to $9,200 for a professional wedding photographer. However, it's important to note that this is a rough estimate, and prices can range higher or lower based on individual circumstances and preferences.

It's essential to consider the quality, expertise, and style of the photographer when making a decision. Some photographers may offer different packages, such as full-day coverage, engagement sessions, or additional services like albums and prints, which can impact the overall cost.

To get an accurate understanding of the cost, it's recommended to research and reach out to multiple photographers in Dallas, review their portfolios, and inquire about their pricing structures.
